Is Data the Holy Grail for Smart Cities?

✓ Fully digital yet interactive
✓ Networking opportunities

✓ Breakout rooms and Digital booths
✓ Free entry

Building on last year's event, we bring together key data innovation stakeholders from government, academia and industry into 1 event. This time fully digital.

Leuven is the European Capital of Innovation 2020, it proves Leuven’s innovation governance models are working: innovation through collaboration. The ‘smartness’ of a city is determined by how well people and technology can blend into an ecosystem that increases the quality of life for its habitants.

And that is what the Smart City event is all about.

Agenda

Leuven is the European Capital of Innovation 2020, it proves Leuven’s innovation governance models are working: innovation through collaboration. The ‘smartness’ of a city is determined by how well people and technology can blend into an ecosystem that increases the quality of life for its habitants. The first minutes we’ll unfold for you how we can all contribute to this.

19:15 - 20:00

To kick off the first content driven part, we’ll do a panel livestream from the studios from Jack & Charlie. The panel fills respectively a government, industry and academic seat:

  • Thomas Van Opens - Vice Mayor of IT at the City of Leuven
  • Kris Peeters - CEO Data Minded & founder Data Science Leuven
  • Sofie Pollin - Associate Professor Telecommunications and Microwaves

Moderation will be in the hands of Deevid De Meyer, Founder of Brainjar and part of the Cronos group.

We encourage you asking the panel questions via the interactive tool sli.do

20:00 - 20:45

You can make Leuven Smarter yourself by being a part of one of the co-creation rooms:

  1. Data capturing
  2. Data streams & APIs
  3. Data processing
  4. Data applications

Each breakout room will be filled with at least 2 industry experts, the City of Leuven, a facilitator, 2 note takers.

Seats are limited. First come first serve.

20:00 - 21:00
  • When you are not interested in breakout rooms, you will have the opportunity to visit different booths where you can get to know different technology companies of Leuven and what they are doing.
  • When you have seen all the booths and have met some interesting people you have the change to network with them. Get to know them a little bit more and what they stand for. There are 2 ways of networking: roulette (at random) and via the chat (targeted).
